Coin flip test

If you are going to be away for a long time and there is food in the fridge at home (especially in the freezer), don’t worry. There is an interesting way to check if there were periods when the unit was not working.

First, freeze a small container with water, such as a glass. Place a coin on the formed ice and return everything to the freezer. So, if you go on a long trip during which your home is without electricity and the refrigerator has thawed, you will find out about it. The ice under the coin will melt, and it will sink into the water. If the electricity is restored, the refrigerator will start working again, and the coin will be frozen in the ice. Then, make your own decision based on the information received. It is well known that refreezing food is harmful.
